About stuff:

→ Jack was born in 1452, he thinks.
→ Went by James Harper for a large portion of his life. Real name, currently unknown.
→ Learned he was immortal the first time someone shot him in a nasty fight. This was when he was approximately 32 years old. His first death is where he froze in aging.
→ Spent the late 1700s to late 1800s in the USA. Views America as his home.
→ Did work for Torchwood, aliens, mutants, etc. Mutants were not an uncommon part of the workplace.
→ He obtained a job at Xavier's when he basically got sick of seeing people around him die...and living on no matter how many times he's been blown up,
→ Has had families, grandkids, kids, married, etc.
→ His memory is extremely warped. He is not sure completely what has happened to him in the past.
→ He did, still, obtain the name Captain Jack Harkness from the Captain who had died in World War II. Until that point, Jack was no military leader. He was just a soldier by the name of James who had an affair with his Captain. Knowing he couldn't die by this point, he took on the man's name. Derp.

Power stuff:

→ He is immortal. Except - he dies and can die. He just...comes back.
→ Can permanently kill him if (while dead) he is put in a situation where air is not obtainable (aka: suffocation, drowning, etc). If he can not catch that breath, he will die permanently. He has an aversion to water.
→ He has subliminal sexuality, and he has no aversion to any gender or type of person/mutation/etc. If he finds you attractive, he will hit on you. But with subliminal sexuality, he is generally found to be appealing. It comes of in a sense of pheromones.
